Hyundai Xcent hits the floor.

Its a good news for the sedan lovers. A new car from a premium developer has been launched in the Indian market. Its a sedan which competes with Dzire,Etios and Amaze. When compare with all these models since this is the latest and that too from Hyundai, this comes a little ahead. The Hyundai Xcent compact sedan has been launched in India. It is the first sedan from the company to follow the hatchback-to-sedan route taken by so many manufacturers, and it is precisely those manufacturers which have to look out for this sedan. Hyundai wants to be the biggest player in the mass-market segment and it has been pretty aggressive with past launches, the last which included the much acclaimed and loved Hyundai Grand i10. The Hyundai Xcent is essentially a Grand i10 with a boot stuck at the back.

As with most other compact sedans in the country, the Hyundai Xcent looks exactly like its hatchback sibling except for the rear. The Grand i10 is a much loved design and one of the more sedate executions of the Hyundai’s ‘fluidic’ design concept, and the Xcent gets the same traits. The swept back headlamps, the small grille, the massive air-dam, ‘diamond-cut’ alloy wheels, big inverted-curve line on the side and the front and side glass house area is ditto like the Grand i10. Move further back and you see the boot, which has been blended in well though it does look boxy if looked straight on from the back, a chrome strip above the number plate holder, a spoiler integrated onto the boot-lid and new tail-lamps. Oh, and the new bumper as well.

Dimension wise, the Xcent grow in length by 230mm to 3995 mm, managing to fit under the 4-metre mark and thus qualifying for excise duty cuts. Otherwise the car is similar to the Grand i10 hatchback. The boot space at 407-litres is the largest in the segment.

As with the exterior there is almost nothing that separates the way the interiors of the Xcent look from the one in the Grand i10. The dual-tone interior is the same, with the three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, the console mounted gearshift, the circular A/C vents, etc. etc. There are some things that are different though, the seat covers are not dual-tone like the ones on the hatchback, it is all beige. The second thing is that the rear-bench gets a centre arm-rest with cup-holders

 Performance and Handling

Hyundai has plonked in the 1.2-litre 82 BHP / 113 Nm petrol engine and the 1.1-litre 71 BHP / 180 Nm diesel engine from the Grand i10 in the Xcent too. The diesel motor has been tuned for more torque than the Grand i10, and delivers about 20 Nm more as compared to the hatch. The diesel motor is only available with a 5-speed manual tranmission while the petrol motor is also available with a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Nokia XL Review

Good news for the android and nokia lovers. Here comes Nokia's first android phone.CEO Stephen Elop specifically mentioned that these were "not Google" service devices, but rather would interface with Microsoft's suite of online products. This, of course, excludes the Windows app store, which makes the X series something of an oddity. Many have speculated that the X series may meet an untimely end once the Microsoft acquisition of Nokia is completed, but for now, Nokia is moving full steam ahead with these handsets, and the first of them is available "immediately."

Nokia introduces their first android phones in the market last month. The NOKIA X, NOKIA X+, and NOKIA XL are the three varients which are similar in the outlook but differ in the internal features. Nokia XL is a dual sim phone which has unique features when compared to other android phones in the market. The Nokia XL is the biggest of the three devices and has the same screen resolution(which can make things a little blurry), but 5inch smartphones are the way to go these days and Nokia has done it superbly with the Nokia XL. Like the other phones in the Nokia X, series the Nokia XL too will have access to various App markets along with Nokia’s own app market.

The XL definitely looks to be the best bargain of the three - even at a 20 Euro premium over the entry-level X, the XL's superior cameras, larger display, and more capacious battery seem like pretty hard upgrades to ignore considering just how little you're paying for them.
We know little about Nokia's X Platform OS at this point, though it looks vaguely reminiscent of Windows phone, at least more than it does the old Asha OS. Apps will be provided on a, you guessed, Nokia-operated app store, and Nokia likely plans to court Android app developers into porting their apps en masse to the new platform. It appears Plants vs. Zombies 2 and Skype are already on board - the new X phones even come with a free month of the Skype Unlimited World Subscription in "select markets."

Sony, Panasonic team up for OLED production

Sony and Panasonic, rival Japanese TV makers, have announced they have shaken hands in a new deal where they'll join forces to make OLED (organic light emitting diode) TV sets, as they are set to fight Korean rivals Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics for the top dog position in the next-generation TV market.

OLED sets are set to take over from LCD sets, and it will come down to which company is able to mass produce screens cheap enough for consumers to adapt to. Sony and Panasonic said in a statement that they plan to develop technologies to fabricate the screens and hope to hit mass-production in 2013.

Samsung and LG have both already shown off 55-inch OLED prototypes, with the TVs expected to hit the market later year at a wallet-busting $10,000 or so. This is around 400-percent higher for the same sized LCD-based screen. According to research firm IHS Inc. OLED-based TV shipments are meant to hit 2.1 million by 2015, up from a tiny 34,000 this year.
