Ever since we did the story about Yamaha pulling the wraps off two new
paint jobs for the R15 Version 2.0 at the 2012 Auto Expo, we’ve been
flooded with a number of calls with eager buyers enquiring about the
limited edition models of the R15. The main reason why buyers were
getting in touch with us was because Yamaha dealers didn’t have a clue
as to when Yamaha will begin accepting orders for the limited edition
R15 Version 2.0 motorcycles. Now, all confusion can be laid to rest as
Yamaha is officially accepting bookings for both the limited edition R15
version 2.0 motorcycles. The 2012 Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 Limited Edition motorcycles will come in
Fiery Red and 50th WGP Anniversary paint jobs, and will cost a little
more than the regular single tone colored R15s. The Fiery Red R15 is
priced at INR 110,000 while the 50th WGP anniversary(Red and White)
edition is priced at INR 111,000, both prices reflecting ex-showroom
Delhi figures. Apart from the new paint job and graphics on the body,
there’s absolutely nothing different in the Limited Edition R15′s
mechanically and they’re bog similar to the regular versions of the R15
Version 2.0.
In line with the limited edition moniker, a fixed number of both these
motorcycles will be made and sold. Yamaha is expected to make at least a
couple of thousand of these motorcycles given the stiff demand that
both these colors are expected to generate right from the word go.
Talking of which, bookings are now open for these motorcycles at Yamaha
dealerships across India. The Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 is a big aesthetic
upgrade over the previous version. Apart from visual changes, Yamaha has
outfitted this motorcycle with fatter tyres and an aluminum swing arm.
The gearing too has been altered to offset the increased width in tyre.
Yamaha also claims to have remapped the ECU for better torque delivery
across the rev range. At this year’s Auto Expo, Yamaha focused mainly on its upcoming scooter
range for the Indian market. The Yamaha Rio Concept scooter was
unveiled and Yamaha also detailed its plans to target Indian women with
its scooter range. Coming to the limited edition R15 Version 2.0
motorcycles that Yamaha unveiled at the Expo, these motorcycles feature
new paint jobs to distinguish themselves from the standard versions.
While one version featured a red and white paint job that will
definitely stand out amongst the crowd, the other version featured a red
a black paint job, making for a more understated look. Both the
motorcycles are priced at INR 1.1 Lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi and are
available for order at Yamaha’s Indian dealerships right away. This
isn’t the first time that Yamaha is launching these shades of limited
edition color on the R15 though. These shades also adorned the previous
generation R15s as a limited edition color scheme.
Back then, after the initial clamor for these gorgeous looking paint
jobs, Yamaha discontinued these colors, sticking to its guns of them
being limited edition models. So, many prospective buyers were left
sorely disappointed. So, if you think these colors are just what you
want your Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 in, we suggest you hurry and buy one
for yourself before stocks vanish. Yamaha also showcased a R15 version
2.0 kitted out with the Daytona Racing performance goodies. This was the
other big story from the Yamaha pavilion as this perhaps represents the
first time that the R15 Version 2.0 has been kitted out with Daytona
parts.
